Prayer support is an important part of our ministry. This prayer update page aims to help you, our prayer partners, keep informed about us and the situation in Zambia so that you can pray more effectively. We plan on these prayer updates being published about once a month.

You can receive our prayer updates by e-mail! Just send us an e-mail and asked to be added to our e-mail list. That will make sure you get these prayer updates and also you will get an electronic version of our newsletters when they come out. Please e-mail us at:   john.elliott@agmd.org   and we’ll be sure to add you!

Thanks for praying!

General Prayer Needs:

1. For safety as we travel. We put on a lot of miles each year. Roads and driving conditions can be quite difficult. We thank to Lord we have yet to have a serious accident in the hundreds of thousands of miles we have driven since 1988. Please pray that this continues!

2. For health. Besides the normal health issues a person in America would face, Zambia has malaria year round, and a number of other tropical diseases. Pray the Lord will keep us well and able to serve Him!

3. For wisdom in how we invest our time. Pray that we will follow the Lord’s leading in what we do and who we help.

4. For the church leaders we work with on a regular basis.

5. For the leaders we teach on a regular basis and those we just occasionally interact with.

RECENT PRAYER UPDATES:

Elliott Prayer Update - June 2014

Here are some other things we would appreciate you joining us in prayer about:

1. John will undergo a couple of medical procedures on Thursday June 5th. One involves blasting a large kidney stone with shock waves. Pray that everything will go smoothly and for a very quick recovery!

2. Missionary Renewal takes place the last week of this month. We'll be meeting many friends, including one of our Zambian missionary colleagues! Pray that the Lord will move and speak to each of us about our role in His Harvest.

3. Also, continue to pray for the Centennial Celebration which will take place in Springfield during the first part of August. We should have 5 Zambian church leaders and two wives attending. Please seek for the Lord's blessing on the planning for this meeting, and for a mighty move of the Holy Spirit.

Thanks for your prayers! We deeply appreciate you partnering with us. We cannot do what God has called us to do without you!

Elliott Prayer Update - May 2014

Our latest newsletter is attached to this e-mail.

As most of you know, John's father went to be with the Lord last month. Thanks for all of you who have been praying for us and all the expressions of love and concern. It means a lot to know you care. John's mother is handling things pretty well, though obviously she has been going through rough days and no doubt there will be more rough days ahead. We'll be back in Omaha and check on her later this month. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

A praise report - Rev. Kaluba is reporting that he has some church members who have learned to read through the literacy program Dawn introduced in Luwingu last year and are now enrolled in the Christian Service courses for leaders!

Another praise report (and prayer request) - our daughter-in-law's father, Gary Wilson, did get moved down to a rehab center in the St. Louis area and is continuing to improve. Continue to pray for Gary's healing and for the up-coming move of her mother from Michigan to the St. Louis area next week.

Here are some other things we would appreciate you joining us in prayer about:

1. For the upcoming Missionary Renewal meeting next month. We'll be attending, along with many other missionaries. Pray for a move of the Lord in our midst.

2. For the Centennial Celebration taking place in Springfield, MO in early August. Several Zambian church leaders plan on attending. Pray that this meeting accomplishes greaat things for God.

3. Continue to pray that the needed additional commitment support will come in. We are still far short of what is needed to cover our budget. Pray that the Lord will touch people's hearts and that we will be able to make our goal and head back to Zambia in September.

Thanks for your prayers! We really appreciate your partnering with us as we seek to equip those God is raising up as leaders so that all of Zambia will be reached for our Lord!
